Are you a tech nerd? Are you that guy that always gets phone calls when your friends’ computers crash or their iPods don’t work? Have you ever considered writing about your love and propensity for technology in a blog format?
Blogs aren’t scary or intimidating. All you have to do is choose a title, choose a name, and start your blog. But wait, you don’t know how to really get started? How do you find topics, how do you find an audience? That’s what we’re going to look at in this article.
There are several ways that you could go with a technology blog, so we’re going to look at a few of them so you can get a feel for which type your technology blog will be.
Technology Review blog
Do you like to get the newest gadgets and talk about them to everyone you know? Then perhaps you should do a technology review blog. These blogs focus on new technology products and whether or not people should invest their money in those products. Show people your expertise by posting reviews on other websites, and then link to more comprehensive reviews on your blog to get more traffic. This could get pricey, but if you’re already buying all of the new technology, that won’t matter much.
Technology DIY blog
Do you fix everything that goes wrong with your technology by yourself? Did you build your own computer, or replace the screen on your broken iPod? Then you may want to do a “Do It Yourself” technology blog. DIY blogs are becoming more and more popular as more people are doing stuff on their own, at home, instead of calling other people in to do them, so why shouldn’t it apply for technology as well? A technology DIY blog would be well-serviced by posting on forums that offer tech advice, and then having a link to your blog in your signature so people could come and check it out.
Technology news blog
Were you glued to your computer while live coverage for E3 was going on? Do you faithfully check technology news every single day? Do you watch YouTube videos that share the breaking news of new technologies constantly? Then perhaps you’d be best at writing a technology news blog. Posting on news forums and sites and throwing in your blog link would work well for gaining an audience, and there’s always technology news going on, so you’d rarely be without a topic.
Just a technology blog
So you want to do aspects of all three of these ideas, and maybe more? Awesome! That’s a great plan as well, but don’t overwhelm yourself with all of the topics that you may cover. Just take it in moderation, and get writing about anything and everything you want.
What are you waiting for? Your blog isn’t going to write itself! Take charge, find a site and get started with the process of sharing your wisdom with people all around the world on your own technology blog.
